According to Surrey Live, who analysed official DfE data, the Royal Alexandra and Albert School is the most sought-after secondary school in Surrey!  Demand for places is so great, only 46% of parents who selected the School as first choice secured a place for September 2019 entry.  This comes as no surprise as the School saw a 50% rise in Year 7 Flexi Boarding applications, and there are over over 100 pupils on the Year 7 waiting list.

In May 2018, the School received an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ in its Social Care inspection, and the School delivers strong academic results. Although a non-selective School, 80% of GCSEs were graded 9 – 4 this summer, with data for academic progress putting it in the top 8% of schools in England.  Two Sixth Form students from the School secured places at Oxbridge this summer, and many A Level students went on to secure places of first choice at Russell Group universities.

The combination of excellent co-curriculum opportunities, outstanding pastoral and boarding care, and delivery of academic success is, according to Headmaster Mark Dixon, the reason why the School is now the first choice for many parents in the local area.

Mr Dixon said, “I am delighted our School is the most sought-after secondary school in Surrey. We have been working hard to deliver top quality education as well as a full programme of co-curricular activities within a warm and caring boarding school community.”

The School has plans to cement its position as the leading state school in the area.

Mr Dixon explained, “We have an ambitious development plan, and will continue to work as a community to ensure that the educational experience our pupils receive is one that provides them with a solid foundation for life.”
